Modern Web Image Format
Universal Image Format
While WebP is the modern, high-efficiency format for the web, it has one major drawback: compatibility. You may have saved an image from a website only to find it's a `.webp` file that you can't upload to a social media site, open in an old version of Photoshop, or send to a colleague who uses older software. Our free WebP to JPG converter solves this problem instantly.
This tool converts your modern WebP images back into the universally-supported JPG (or JPEG) format. A JPG file is guaranteed to work on any device, any browser, and any application, anywhere. This tool is your bridge from the "new web" to the "universal web," ensuring your images are viewable by everyone.
The process is simple and gives you control over the final quality:
WebP, like PNG, can support transparency (an "alpha channel"). The JPG format **cannot**. Our tool handles this automatically: when you convert a transparent WebP to a JPG, the transparent areas are filled with a solid white background. If you need to preserve transparency, you should use our WebP to PNG converter instead.
Be prepared: your new JPG file will almost certainly be **larger** than your original WebP file. WebP uses a much more advanced and efficient compression algorithm. You are trading the small file size of WebP for the universal compatibility of JPG. This is a normal and expected outcome.
We understand that your images are your data. Our tool is built with privacy and security as the top priority. All files are uploaded over an encrypted SSL (HTTPS) connection. Our automated system permanently deletes all your uploaded WebP files and the generated JPGs from our servers one hour after processing. We never view, share, or store your images.
Print desks, old CRM uploads, and some desktop tools still reject WebP. JPEG is the universal fallback.
WebP alpha disappears in JPGβpick a matte or use WebP to PNG instead.
Avoid multiple lossy passes; export once, then compress JPG only if needed.
1. Click 'Select Files' and upload your WebP images. 2. Adjust the 'Quality' slider for your output JPG (90 is recommended for high quality). 3. Click 'Convert'. 4. Download your new JPG files.
While WebP is a modern, efficient format, it is not yet supported by all platforms, especially older versions of software, some social media sites, or certain content management systems. Converting WebP to JPG ensures your image is 100% compatible and can be viewed by anyone on any device.
The JPG format does not support transparency. When you convert a transparent WebP file to JPG, our tool automatically fills the transparent background with a solid white color.
JPG uses 'lossy' compression, but you can control the quality. By setting the quality slider to 90 or higher, the resulting JPG will be extremely high quality, and any difference will be nearly impossible to see with the naked eye.
Yes, in almost all cases. WebP uses a newer, more efficient compression than JPG. The file size will increase (a necessary trade-off), but your new JPG will be compatible with 100% of devices and software, including older versions of Photoshop and web browsers that do not support WebP.
