- Data Parsing: The extracted text is processed line by line. The tool intelligently detects column breaks (either tabs or multiple spaces) to split a single line of text into multiple spreadsheet cells.
- CSV Generation: The parsed data is written into a new `.csv` file, with each line from the PDF becoming a row in the spreadsheet. We even include a UTF-8 BOM (Byte Order Mark) to ensure special characters and symbols are displayed correctly in Excel.
- Secure Download: You are provided with a secure link to download your new CSV file. Both your original PDF and the converted CSV are then automatically deleted from our server.
Important: Text-Based PDF vs. Scanned Image PDF
The single most important factor for a successful conversion is the type of PDF you have. It is crucial to understand the difference:
- Text-Based (Native) PDFs: These are files created from a program like Microsoft Word, Excel, or a "Print to PDF" function. You can click and drag to select the text within them. **Our tool works perfectly with these PDFs.**
- Scanned Image PDFs: These are files created from a physical scanner. The PDF contains only a picture of the page, even if it has text on it.
